Lisa Richardson Crochet Along 2017 - Week 9

Week 9: Diamonds

It has been such a busy couple of weeks here at SMD HQ.  Although I can remember it as if it was just yesterday, Debbie Bliss was kind enough to drop buy and host a well-attended and enjoyable event. It was fantastic to meet her, asking lots of your questions and I was really pleased to receive a signed copy of her book. I still haven`t casted on anything from the book. I don`t know if I should use this book to follow the patterns or buy another so I can keep my signed copy pristine. Is that sad??

Anyway, no sooner had Debbie left than I started the setting up and promoting of an event in our sister company Sewing Machines Direct.  We had a Sew Saturday event at SMD HQ which means that the sewing equipment invades the knitting space for a day. Some have mentioned that this high level of activity crammed into such a short space of time in what is almost always a serene and tranquil environment affects the equilibrium and ambiance in the knitting showroom for some days after. I`m not 100% convinced. I`d like to think that the Knitting Gods can put any differences that they have with the Sewing Gods to one side for just one day and teach many of us a lesson in how to get along with each other.

The time needed to prepare for Sew Saturday meant that I had to put my crochet hook down so I could start digitizing.  It was a pleasant change and it was really nice to pick up my crochet hook again on Sunday evening as I sat there with matchsticks in my eyes trying to watch the rather late Grand Prix.

And I have to admit, Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.  I just love this pattern and technique and just looks amazing and it is very easy to do.  This really is a lovely warm blanket and as I am working with the larger block now it is sitting on my lap keeping me snug and warm.  I now have to catch up and get cracking on week 10 which was just released a couple of weeks ago.  So I have some work to do now.

And don't worry if you have not started the CAL with us already, you can join us at any time as the pattern is available for free online at Knitrowan.com and all you have to do is Register and then sign in and you can then download the weekly patterns.  And don't forget to check out the project pack that I am using here www.knittingwool.com but if you would like to use a different set of colours (some of you have been very creative), please contact us and we can apply the same multi discount to your order.
